About Christchurch Bird Club

Our History

Founded in 1906, the Christchurch Bird Club has been a cornerstone of the bird-keeping community in New Zealand for over a century. Our rich history is built on the passion and dedication of bird enthusiasts who have come together to share their knowledge and love for avian companions.

As one of the 53 Clubs and Societies within the New Zealand Federation of Bird Clubs (Inc.), we continue to uphold our founding principles while embracing modern approaches to bird care and breeding.
